ST. LOUIS—Avison Young has just opened its first office in the St. Louis metro area, its 53rd in the US overall. The move represents yet another step in the Toronto-based firm's transformation into a global company. Over the past seven years, it has grown from 11 to, now, 79 offices in 72 markets and from 300 to more than 2,400 real estate professionals in Canada, the US and Europe.
“The company had corporate clients who had requirements in the St. Louis marketplace, and they felt it was time for to have a presence here,” Tim Convy tells GlobeSt.com. Along with George Convy, Steve Stradal, Kevin Farrell and Gerard Mudd, he is now a principal of Avison Young's St. Louis operations. A long-time veteran of the local real estate market, along with George Convy and Stradal he will oversee the company's growth and development in the region. Mudd and Farrell will manage the day-to-day operations of the office.
“They got experienced brokers right out of the box,” he adds. And the move also made a lot of sense for these veteran brokers. “Some of our clients wanted us to have a national flag.” Now, if they have requirements in Nashville, or one of the dozens of cities where Avison Young has established itself, Convy will have “boots on the ground” ready to provide a consistent level of service.
“With the opening of our St. Louis office, we're increasing our strong presence in the US Midwest and the country as a whole,” says Mark E. Rose, chair and chief executive officer of Avison Young. “Furthermore, we're thrilled to have such an experienced team leading the way for us in St. Louis. Their presence will be a tremendous benefit as we recruit top talent, serve clients in all asset classes and expand our footprint in St. Louis and beyond.”
Tim Convy and George Convy, who have 37 and 45 years of commercial real estate experience, respectively, were with CBRE until 2015. Stradal, an industry veteran with 25 years of experience, joins Avison Young from Balke Transwestern, where he was vice president of sales and leasing. Mudd and Farrell, who have 30 and 38 years of industry experience, respectively, join Avison Young after partnering at Farrell Mudd Development.
Effective immediately, Avison Young's new St. Louis office will be located at 300 Hunter Ave. in suburban Clayton, the financial and government center of St. Louis County. Avison Young opened its first Midwest office in Chicago in January 2009. Since then, the firm has expanded in the region by opening offices in Detroit, Columbus, Cleveland, Minneapolis and Indianapolis.
“It was an easy decision for us to join Avison Young given the company's rapid expansion due to its client-centric focus and dedication to collaboration in all transactions,” says Tim Convy. “This is a win-win situation in every respect.”
