ALEXANDRIA, VA–Wegmans Food Markets has signed a 84,000-square foot lease at StonebridgeCarras' one-million-square foot Hoffman Town Center development here. The Wegmans will anchor the 210,000-square feet of retail on Blocks 4 and 5.

Wegmans has committed to locate the store on the second level of the project allowing for the frontage on Mandeville Lane to be lined with street-level retailers. “Landing Wegmans is perfect for the area and their willingness to locate their store on the second floor will really make the street environment perfect,” Douglas Firstenberg, a principal with StonebridgeCarras said in a prepared statement.

The new lease is another win for the submarket, following the grand opening last week of the National Science Foundation, a project that is bringing in thousands of new employees and visitors to the Carlyle area every day, according to Stephanie Landrum, CEO of Alexandria Economic Development Partnership. “An important component of our plans for growth in this area is to bring in amenities that serve both our residents and daytime population,” she said in a prepared statement.

The project's plans include 210,000 square feet of retail and 775,000 square feet of residential including condominiums and apartments.

StonebridgeCarras expects to break ground on the project in early 2019 with the first components opening in the Fall of 2021.

Sam Hodges of KLNB represented Wegmans for this lease. Sam Hodges and Dimitri Georgelakos are representing StonebridgeCarras to lease the retail space in the development.
