CHICAGO, MILWAUKEE—HSA Commercial Real Estate has just executed a lease with J. Crew to open the retailer's second Mercantile-branded store in the country at The Mayfair Collection shopping center in Wauwatosa, WI. The lease gives another boost to the landmark project, which has repurposed functionally obsolete warehouse buildings along Hwy. 45 into new, contemporary retail environments.
J. Crew Mercantile will occupy Suite 110 between Ulta and Men's Wearhouse in the project's first phase. J. Crew announced earlier this year that it was opening its first Mercantile store at the Nordstrom Rack-anchored The Shops at Park Lane in Dallas, TX.
“From the outset of this project, our strategy has always been to find best-in-class fashion brands that can attract customers throughout southeast Wisconsin,” says Timothy Blum, executive vice president of retail development for Chicago-based HSA Commercial. “With this being J. Crew Mercantile's second store in the country, we believe that we have further fulfilled that goal, and we are excited to have them as part of The Mayfair Collection.”
J. Crew will start construction on its store in August and expects to open the location before the end of the year.
Nordstrom Rack, Dick's Sporting Goods, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, and others anchor the 270,000 square foot first phase of Mayfair, which opened to customers in April 2014. Blum says hundreds of thousands of shoppers from across the metro Milwaukee area have visited since the shopping center's grand opening.
Whole Foods Market has agreed to anchor the center's second phase, and will occupy a converted warehouse building at the northeast corner of Burleigh St. and 112th St. The second phase will also include a HomeGoods, about 30,000 square feet of junior anchor retail space, a mix of upscale bars and restaurants, and a 140-room Hilton Homewood Suites hotel.
“There is one 30,000 square-foot junior anchor space available in phase 2 between Whole Foods and HomeGoods for which there are numerous interested prospects,” HSA tells GlobeSt.com. “We are delivering space to phase 2 tenants in August with planned openings on February 1 of next year.”
