LOS ANGELES—Mayor Eric Garcetti joined Westfield Company officials recently for a preview of the $800 million renovation of Westfield Century City.

Westfield Company Co-CEO Peter Lowy, community leaders and local residents met recently and were presentated plans and renderings relevant to the expansion plans.

The project creates a 1.2 million square foot showcase for more than 200 luxury, contemporary and international designer brands, a new three-level flagship Nordstrom featuring its latest design concepts, completely remodeled three-level Bloomingdale's, modern new two-level Macy's, as well as the West Coast's first Eataly celebrating Italian culture, cuisine, and its most authentic flavors.

An all-new outdoor dining district interspersed amidst welcoming plazas, tree-lined pathways, strolling gardens, and cool green canopies invite customers and enrich the journey. Eight acres of open space provide the perfect setting to unwind and relax, explore, and chance upon unexpected pop-up special events and art exhibits, listen to music, drink coffee, or sample wine under the Southern California sky, the company says.

“We are thrilled to create this new urban escape right here in the heart of the Westside of Los Angeles,” said Lowy, Westfield's Co-CEO. “Westfield Century City will elevate fashion retail to a new level of excellence, embracing the relaxed elegance and welcoming environment that typifies our Southern California lifestyle — combining the most sought-after brands and exceptional customer amenities within a gorgeous, walkable space unlike any other.”

Westfield Century City's physical spaces and landscaped walkways will also provide a canvas for L.A. based interior designer and tastemaker, Kelly Wearstler, who will infuse the property's design and decor with an authentic Southern California vibe celebrating casual luxury and the outdoor lifestyle. In collaboration with Westfield's own design studio, Wearstler will help create a total immersive experience in which every detail throughout the property's interior environment, no matter how small, is carefully considered.

“The vision for Westfield Century City exemplifies the very best of our city's distinctive style and spirit,” said Garcetti. “Our community is going to be thrilled by the design, ambiance, amenities, conveniences, and of course, the very best in shopping. This is exactly the kind of project that energizes our local economy, creates jobs, and inspires confidence in the future of our city.”

Westfield Corporation is a global leader in the design, development and operation of premier retail destinations with interests in 40 shopping centers in the United States and United Kingdom, along with a major development site in Milan, Italy. In the U.S., Westfield's portfolio of 38 shopping centers includes more than 6,700 retail shops across 46 million square feet of space in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Washington.
