ORLANDO—Canadians are still flocking to Central Florida's single-family home market in droves. The question is, why.
Globest.com caught up with Bob Kanjian, sales manager with national homebuilder AV Homes, to get some answers. In part one, he pointed to the impact of foreign currency exchange rates. You can still read that article here.
GlobeSt.com: What is the number one motivating factor when buying a home?
Kanjian: The number one motivating factor for Canadians when purchasing a home is the weather. That makes Central Florida the perfect choice.
Coming in a close second is, of course, great value. Amenity-rich communities at an affordable price is key to attracting these buyers. For example, the Canadian community destination, Solivita, offers a choice of championship golf courses, a 32,000-square-foot spa and fitness center with an indoor, air-conditioned track and indoor heated pool, an exercise studio with advanced cardiovascular strength equipment, and a dance studio for aerobics.
GlobeSt.com: Can you describe the Canadian customers' buying habits and preferences in home design?
Kanjian: Our Canadian customers are very social, and they always have plenty of visitors to their home as they enjoy hosting parties and get-togethers. That's why it is important for them to find a home with open spaces and plenty of guest rooms.
A selling point for many Canadian buyers is the ability to peruse a wide selection of flexible floor plans with more than 20,000 options for personalization within our communities. Additionally, many of these buyers also look for two-car garages, and want to be in close proximity to airports with direct flights.
