ATLANTA—WiredScore just launched in Atlanta. The company pioneered an international standard for Internet connectivity in office buildings.

WiredScore is betting on Atlanta because of the growing number of technology businesses driving the need for high-tech office spaces. Wired Certification and demand is growing in the city, with five office buildings already achieving the status.

“By achieving Wired Certification, local building owners demonstrate their deep commitment to meeting their tenants' technology needs today and for years to come, giving them a competitive edge in attracting and retaining sought-after tenants,” Arie Barendrecht, co-founder and CEO of WiredScore, tells GlobeSt.com. “Atlanta's flourishing tech industry requires office space with the fastest Internet and strongest connectivity; we brought WiredScore here in response to this growing need.”

Those buildings, which span 2.2 million square feet of office space, are: Armour Yards (Third & Urban); Ponce City Market (Jamestown); 100 Peachtree (Riverview Realty Partners); and 1001 & 2002 Perimeter Summit (Seven Oaks Management). Properties have to meet a rigorous set of standards to achieve Wired Certification.

“At Ponce City Market, offering exceptional Internet connectivity was a critical component of the modernization process of the historic Sears, Roebuck & Co building,” says Michael Phillips of Jamestown. “With several of our properties around the country already Wired Certified, we knew that achieving Wired Certification was critical to distinguishing Ponce City Market as the property for running and growing a business in Atlanta. Our tenants, such as Twitter and Mailchimp, benefit immensely from our high-quality tech infrastructure.”

Tech trends are also impacting the hotel market in Atlanta and beyond. Read my recent column for more insight.
