LOS ANGELES—Caruso Affiliated has signed specialty market Vintage Grocer as an anchor at Palisades Village, a significant retail redevelopment project in the Pacific Palisades. Finding a boutique grocer was deemed essential to the project and to creating a community experience and gathering place. The retail project is scheduled to open in 2018.
“The future of the project has been shaped by community input, and a specialty grocer was deemed essential to the project from the very beginning,” Kloe Colacarro, head of leasing at Caruso Affiliated, tells GlobeSt.com. “It was important to us that the grocer was local and able to customize its offerings. Vintage Grocers will act as an important anchor to Palisades Village.”
Boutique grocers are becoming popular at retail centers because they are both daily needs driven and create a unique experience, two important factors in today's retail market. Additionally, boutique grocers are small enough to customize their products to the community, creating a hyper local experience. “Grocers are an important part of daily life in one's community,” adds Colacarro. “The personal touch, product selection, and community spirit curated by Vintage Grocers, allow guests the opportunity to enhance their everyday routine in a way that is familiar and warm.”
This is the second time that Caruso has partnered with Vintage Grocer. The home-style market is also a tenant at Caruso's Promenade at Westlake, opening this year. This is also the third location for the shop, which is located at Trancas Country Mart in Malibu. “Vintage Grocers is a true hometown market with an incredible selection of local and sustainable products,” says Colacarro. “We sought them out as they are best in class in this category. It was crucial to us to provide the Palisades community with an intimate, one-of-a-kind market that will be specifically catered to their needs.”
While no other leases have been announced, the remainder of the tenant mix at the development will include restaurants and retail shops, along with outdoor community-friendly amenities. “Vintage Grocers will be joined by unique shops and great restaurants with outdoor dining, a park and a place to host neighborhood meetings,” says Colacarro. “Palisades Village will be a walkable, charming community gathering place that will serve as a centerpiece of the neighborhood with diverse shopping, dining and lifestyle offerings.”
