Health and Biomed Facility Project Turns Dirt

The building is scheduled for completion in late 2017.

HOUSTON—The health and biomedical sciences building 2 (HBSB 2) on the University of Houston campus will be home to the college of pharmacy, including the planned center for drug discovery and development, and the University of Houston’s integrated care center, which will provide primary medical and behavioral health services for the underserved in surrounding communities. Construction is underway on the building designed by Shepley Bulfinch and built by Tellepsen Builders.

Provost Paula Short called it a place “where we can bring the best healthcare to our citizens and prepare the best health providers, educators and researchers. This is exciting for our campus. It supports [UH] president Khator’s [Carnegie] Tier 1 [research institution] vision and the university’s efforts to be relevant in our community and regionally and nationally competitive.”
