ACRP clean-up day

HOUSTON—Part maintenance, part revitalization, the Association of Commercial Real Estate Professionals teamed up with the Buffalo Bayou Partnership last month to take part in a spring cleaning effort. More than 30 ACRP volunteers gathered near the Buffalo Bayou Park water works underground cistern, working through sections of the 160-acre park to plant new greenery, mulch existing grounds and, a side effect of recent flooding, remove existing debris swept in by heavy rainfall.

“One of our focuses is giving back to the community,” Randy Young, ACRP community affairs director and president/founder of Terrenova Real Estate Group, tells GlobeSt.com. “During the Buffalo Bayou project, we planted, weeded and picked up garbage. Next quarter, we will be walking to fight cystic fibrosis. Half of the proceeds from our fishing tournament go to Galveston Bay and half to scholarships. And, the proceeds of our golf tournament go to the Food Bank, disabled veterans and the Houston Furniture Bank.”

ACRP is a professional business organization with a primary purpose of establishing business relationships among members of the association and guests, enhancing members' knowledge of the commercial real estate industry, promoting camaraderie among its members and good stewardship to the community, including supporting community organizations. Membership includes anyone in the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area who is interested in commercial real estate. The group has more than 100 members and remains actively involved within the local community throughout the year by hosting at minimum one community event per quarter.

Many of Houston's latest commercial developments are formed by ACRP members, including the KPRC News Station at 8181 SW Freeway, Hines' Fallbrook I and II, Karbach Brewing Co. and FedEx Ground's new campus in Missouri, TX.
