Represented by the General Services Administration, DOT has sought bids for a headquarters of 1.3 million sf, which will pay $55 million in rent annually, making it one of the biggest leases up for grabs. Five developers remain in the running: two with proposals for the Southeast Federal Center at M Street SE and New Jersey Avenue, Republic Properties' Portals site at 14th Street and Maryland Avenue, another developer with 801 New Jersey Ave., and DOT's current headquarters at L'Enfant Plaza.GSA hopes to name a winner by September.
