Oakland Makes Way Another Corporate HQ

The Emeryville-based manufacturer products is paying $3.4 million for 7.8 acres owned by the Port of Oakland.

OAKLAND, CA—With Oakland City Council approval this week, Rainin Instruments Co. Inc. appears ready to ink a deal that brings yet another corporate headquarters address and hundreds of more jobs to the city. The Emeryville-based company, a maker of products used in the laboratory and research arenas, will reportedly pay $3.4 million—or $10 per foot – for 7.8 acres in the Airport Business Park.

The company plans to start construction of its $12-million project in the fall. Clinton Bolden, head of Oakland’s Redevelopment Agency, said Rainin’s new facility is slated to be ready for use by the fall of 2001.
