Oakland Makes Way Another Corporate HQ

The Emeryville-based manufacturer products is paying $3.4 million for 7.8 acres owned by the Port of Oakland.

The company plans to start construction of its $12-million project in the fall. Clinton Bolden, head of Oakland's Redevelopment Agency, said Rainin's new facility is slated to be ready for use by the fall of 2001.

The site is part of a portfolio of properties currently controlled by the Port of Oakland. Parcel by parcel, the holdings are being transferred into the city's control in a bid to attract the interest of companies like Rainin.
