Portland Developer Comes to Phoenix with 50-Acre Plans

PHOENIX—In what is it’s first venture into this market, Portland-based Gerding/Edlen Development Co. has broken ground on Agave Center, a 50-acre mixed-use park that will include industrial and retail space and as much as 330,000 sf of office space. Gerding/Edlen has started construction on an 80,000-sf class A office building in the park, which is adjacent to Interstate 10 at the southwest corner of I-10 and Warner Road. The four-story building will include a two-story lobby and floors designed for single or multi-tenant occupancy. One Agave Center is scheduled for completion in November.

“We were attracted to this site because of the immediate access to the freeway, the proximity to labor and the quality of the area,” says Mark Edlen, principal of Gerding/Edlen. The firm plans to develop a total of five class A office buildings on the site, totaling 330,000 sf.Cornoyer Hedrick Architects designed the building, the Weitz Co. is the general contractor and Cushman & Wakefield is the listing agent for the office campus.
