In another deal, Collins reports that it has purchased three office buildings known as Plaza West at 2001 West Main St. in the western section of Stamford. The complex includes 80,000 sf. of office space and 13 residential units that total approximately 20,000 sf. Neither purchase price or buyer were revealed
Company president Arthur Collins II says that the Plaza West property, located adjacent to the Hyatt Hotel in neighboring Old Greenwich, "occupies a well-defined marketplace niche, in which it offers high quality office space at lower rents than the central business districts. The properties are located in an emerging market area where industrial buildings are being converted to trading floors for financial companies and major new retail uses are being proposed."
The deals announced today are part of the firm's strategy to increase its portfolio of office properties in the suburban New York market. In January, it paid $12.5 million for 2777 Summer St., a 109,774-sf property, from KB Opportunity Fund. It is now 95% leased to such tenants as Cablevision Lightpath, Sunguard Treasury, the Apollo Group, SE Technologies and Enamics.
