Small-town Incubator Fills Up

FAIRBURN, GA-A renovation investment of $312,000 at an aging telephone exchange building is paying off for this small metro Atlanta hamlet.

The small town of Fairburn, 18 miles southwest of the city, isn’t in the big-city development leagues but it knows a good investment when it sees one. The town sunk $312,000 into the renovation of the former local telephone exchange building as a business incubator. Now the investment is paying off.

All five of the commercial units in Fairburn Exchange were leased even before the building’s formal ribbon-cutting celebration. Spaces in the one-story building range from 500 sf to 750 sf. Rents are $275 to $400 per month.
