WorldSpy has been a shining example of the explosive growth such firms can undergo in a short time. The company opened at the Ardsley Park Science and Technology Center (the former Ciba-Geigy headquarters) in early 1998 in approximately 4,000 sf. It eventually expanded to 8,000 sf, according to Glenn P. Walsh, senior managing director/Connecticut/Westchester office for Newmark & Co. Real Estate Inc. In October 1999, it signed one of the largest lease deal of the year when it relocated to 30,000 sf of space at 120 Bloomingdale Rd. here.
Chairman Alan Clingman told Globest.com that a company he was involved with, icentennial Ventures, would take his space at the 157,000-sf building owned by RPW Group of Mount Vernon. "We are still occupying the space," he stresses. Clingman gave little information about the type of business icentennial is engaged in or what prompted the shutdown.
Officials with Newmark & Co., the exclusive leasing agent at the building, say the company told then that a new firm would be operating out of the space. The property, which is 90% leased, also is home to another dot.com, I-Click, which has 35,000 sf.
