Until recently, such grants were under the direction of HUD, but late last year Federal legislation brought the program under state control. In all, more than $50 million was distributed to 111 municipalities across the state.

The funding allocations include a $349,242 sewer upgrade in Highland Falls, as well as infrastructure and economic development-related grants geared to manufacturing and business expansion in communities located in Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties.
