Construction Begins on Hotel Property in Rockland County

NANUET, NY- The Candlewood Suites hotel will feature a complete kitchen, oversized recliner and a 25-inch TV. It is scheduled to open January 2001.

A $9 million project, according to Candlewood Hotel Co. officials, the Fricker Corp. of Horsham, PA is building the hotel at 20 Overlook Blvd. in Nanuet on the southeast corner of New Clarkstown Road and Overlook Blvd. It will have 124 suites: 100 studios and 24 one-bedrooms. Each will feature a complete kitchen, oversized recliner, 25-inch television, large business desk, adjustable executive chair, two phone lines and data ports.

The Wichita, KS-based company owns, operates and franchises Candlewood Suites, which targets mid-market business travelers and others on short- or long-term stays. Company chairman and CEO Jack DeBoer founded Residence Inn and co-founded Summerfield Suites in the 1970s and 1980s. He launched Candlewood in 1995 and Cambridge Suites in 1998.
