If passed, the amendment to the regional government's charter would eliminate the executive director position, and the number of districts would be reduced from seven to six. Under the revised charter, six districts would select representatives, and a council president would be elected by the region.
Executive director Mike Burton's job would be eliminated, saving at least $250,000 annually, some council members estimated. His administrative duties would be taken up by a chief operating officer selected by the council.
