Applied Biosystems Plans for New Facility

FOSTER CITY, CA -- Biotechnology firm Applied Biosystems Inc. will expand beyond its home base here to satellite quarters on the eastern edge of the Silicon Valley.

Foster City, Calif.-based Applied Biosystems Inc. plans to move beyond its main Silicon Valley campus by the end of this year.

The firm, which has played a major role in human-genome research, expects to buy an 80-acre property near Pleasanton, Calif. The property is currently owned by Kaiser Aluminum Corp., which is moving to Texas.
