The auto parts company paid Paccar Inc. of Bellevue $5.75 million for the site, which will replace its location on South Dearborn Street near Rainier Avenue South in Seattle. Wright Runstad & Co. is proposing an office campus on the site, which the local developer bought as it pieced together enough land for a 600,000-sf technology campus.
Mar-Lac will move its headquarters and distribution operations to the new location in October after revamping a 126,000-sf warehouse on the site. Mar-Lac president Bruce McLachlin is saying the property was a logical choice because Paccar's used to use the site for its auto supply subsidiary, which sold last year, turning the property into surplus.
Mar-Lac, which is affiliated with the Parts Plus system, owns 10 retail outlets in the Puget Sound region and distributes auto parts to 85 stores in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.
