Opus West, the Valley's most active office developer, has begun building the Mesa Corporate Center. It's a 105,000-sf class A complex near Fiesta Mall in the suburb of Mesa. The two-story office building is at the southeast corner of Alma School Road and Southern Avenue.

Little office development occurred in Mesa during the 1990s. The suburb is mostly a bedroom community with some industrial buildings. The last office tower to be erected in the Fiesta Mall area was built in the late 1980s.

"The project offers businesses looking to expand or locate in Mesa prime office space, a commodity that is in great demand," says Richard Mulligan, economic development director for MegaCorp, Mesa's office of economic development.

Allstate Insurance Co. has already signed on to take 20,000-sf in the building, which is scheduled to be completed by December.
