Detroit Department of Transportation officials are looking for a site to house a new $5 million bus transfer station. The transfer hub will mix convenience with retail, says Director Al Martin, who notes that the City is looking at an area around the closed Mercy Hospital site at the intersection of Chandler Park Dr. and Conner to put up the facility, which will be financed with $3.9 million in federal transit funds.
“We have not determined the exact site yet, but we’re looking in that vicinity,” Martin told GlobeSt.com. The size of the facility has not yet been determined, he said, but there are plans for what would go in it. Martin said the City would like to feature a child-care center that’s always open, a drugstore and other retail shopping stores.
