A total $136.2 million in new venture capital was snagged by mostly tech-related businesses in the area during the second quarter, according to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The largest single finding, $46.5 million, was supplied to MercadoLibre of Miami Beach, an on-line auction company focusing on Latin American markets.
A total of $35.5 million went to DataCore Software Corp. of Fort Lauderdale, which is engaged in software applications for high-speed data storage operations. Venture capital of $15.8 million was obtained by Cellit Inc of Miami, which provides integrated outbound/inbound software for call centers. Cylex Systems of Boca Raton, whose business involves document image management solutions, received $12.8 million
