Detroit Design Firm Lands Avon Contract

DETROIT - Cosmetics firm wants 850,000-sf complex for its Mexico operations.

Albert Kahn and Associates has been commissioned by Avon-Mexico for thedesign of a new $45 million production, packaging, warehouse anddistribution facility in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico.For Avon, the direct seller of beauty and related products, the new 850,000-sf Celaya facility will augment existing operations in Mexico City.

The Detroit-based design company is providing program management andarchitectural and engineering services for the master planning phase of theproject. The company is also providing schematic plans for thearchitectural, civil and structural work, and complete plans for mechanical,electrical and process equipment systems.The first phase of the project is well under way, with the administration,finished goods warehouse and shipping building nearing completion. The wastetreatment facility, energy center and cistern are also under construction.
