Signature, headed by Darrel Schmidt, has bought the land from La Plata Investments LLC, developer of the master-planned Briargate and Pine Creek Communities in the Springs, where more than 24,000 people live. Pine Creek Village will be next to the communities on the northeast corner of Briargate Parkway and Chapel Hills Dr.

Pine Creek Village will be an eight-building complex, featuring a 1.5-acre park with amphitheater. The site is zoned for a variety of retail and office, including medical buildings, restaurants and neighborhood services.

Other projects by Signature Cos. Include the 3,500-acre Meadows, a residential community southwest of Denver in Jefferson County; several smaller residential communities; a strip shopping center and the Gardens at Columbine, a 100-unit assisted living facility in Littleton, a suburb southwest of Denver.
