Cronos Buys Motorola's 177,000-SF Semiconductor Plant For $13 Mil. or $73.45 PSF

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC-After an intensive global marketing effort, Motorola has sold its 177,000-sf, 110.4-acre semiconductor manufacturing facility in Research Triangle Park to Cronos Integrated Microsystems, recently acquired by JDS Uniphase Corp.

Cronos paid $13 million or $73.45 psf for the 110.4-acre property. Philadelphia-based Binswanger brokered the transaction.

Cronos, which began as a local Research Triangle Park startup expects to grow from its current 76 employees to 170 by next June,with employment possibly topping 500 at this facility within two to three years.
