Two new sound stages were constructed in existing buildings, leased from Avalon Investments for five years for a consideration of $1.7 million on four acres adjacent to the 14-acre Valencia Studios, says spokesman John Portman. Jim Ebanks of Woodland Hills-based Realty Advisory Group represented both parties in the transaction.

The six existing full-service sound stages total 120,000 sf and are fully booked, Portman says. One of the newly created stages will be used for production of the TV series "JAG," which has been produced at Valencia Entertainment's facilities for the past four years.

Thanks to the Santa Clarita Valley's location within the 50-mile circle centering on Hollywood, the area is a popular location for movie, TV and commercial production, says Amber Skowronski of the Santa Clarita Film Bureau.
