Kajima Tapped for Telecom Firm Project

CHICAGO - 360networks at the Lakeside Tech Center will build one of the largest advanced fiber optic networks available.

360networks inc. has named Kajima Construction Services Inc. design/build firm for its 30,000-sf project in Chicago at Lakeside Technology Center, 350 E. Cermak Rd. The space will include a telecommunications transport switch facility and a complete emergency generator back-up system.

With a recent IPO, 360networks inc. is currently buildings one of the largest advanced fiber optic networks in the world. Specializing in optical channels, private line transmission, packet-based data and virtual voice trunking, 360networks anticipates that by mid-2002 the firmÕs network will consist of about 77,900 miles of fiber optic cable. This network will be capable of linking major cities in North America, Europe, Asia and South America through a combination of underground and undersea links.
