The eight-story, 185,000-sf tower is scheduled to be completed in December 2001. It is the last building in the first phase of the project. Spieker began construction on two identical towers in June that have been preleased by Siemens Information and Communications Networks Inc. The two towers should be complete by next fall.

Located near San Jose International Airport, Skyport Plaza will eventually include 1.1 million square feet of office space, retail space, two hotels, up to 315 housing units, and a park. Spieker plans to build three more 185,000-sf towers within the next two to five years, further strengthen its presence in the airport market, where it currently owns and operates approximately 2.2 million sf of office space.

No firm completion date has been set. The project is being phased over time as warranted by demand, a company source told GlobeSt.com. Spieker is handling the project's commercial aspects, and marketing out hotel and residential duties, the source said.
