"Texas is a big market. There's more than 350 million sf of office space in Texas and Dallas is in the center of the state. It's a good place to radiate out." And, there's a lot of activity in Florida, too, he says. "We're doing business there with law firms and financial institutions."
The Studley strategy is not to have an office in every market, but to cover every market across the country, Ducharme says. "In Chicago, we cover the entire Midwest through one office. We fly to other cities where we have customers or potential customers." That's why the Ft. Lauderdale office is not being set up to serve just the local community, he says, but the rest of the state as well. The company is also planning to open an office in Denver by the end of the year.
These new offices are not part of an expansion, Ducharme says, but just "filling in some holes in the geography where we want to be more prominent."
Bert Sanders, a company veteran, has been named branch manager in Florida; Greg Briggs, formerly of Cushman & Wakefield, has been appointed senior VP and southwest regional manager in Dallas.
