FCL to Build Abbott HQ

ITASCA, IL - Abbott Land & Investment hires design/build firm for new headquarters building.

Abbott Land & Investment Corp. has selected FCL Builders Inc. of Itasca as the design/build firm of a new 32,300-sf office/warehouse facility in northwest suburban Barrlett. Groundbreaking is slated for the end of this month and completion will be in January 2001.

Located near Route 25 and W. Barrlett Road, the building will be the first in Bluff City Business Park, a 45-acre park being developed by Abbott Land. Once complete, Abbott will move its headquarters into the building and share roughly 22,000 sf with its affiliates, Bluff City Materials (a sand and gravel mining firm) and Benchmark Construction, an underground utility contractor. It will lease the remaining 10,000 sf.
