With an estimated completion date of mid-2004, the Black Rock Golf Community would feature 188 clustered homes in five separate areas of the 330-acre development. The project also includes a championship-level, 6,850-yard golf course; clubhouse and dining room; sports complex with swimming pool; and four tennis courts.
Efforts to contact Hingham Resources officials were unsuccessful, but the company is requesting a waiver of any required DEP environmental impact report, a study typically needed for such an ambitious undertaking. In their ENF, Hingham notes that the property has previously been used as a stone quarry. "As a result of the ongoing mining activities, approximately 170 acres of the site have been altered or disturbed…" the filing states. Dodging an EIR could clear a major hurdle since such can studies add six months to a year to the development timetable.
