Onyx, which makes software that automates the way companies manage relationships with customers and partners, is taking space no longer wanted by HomeGrocer.com Inc. The Kirkland-based online grocery delivery service backed out of its commitment after announcing it would be acquired by rival Webvan.
The added commitment is to ensure room for future growth. Onyx occupies about 100,000 square feet of office space at the Sunset North office complex, just north off Interstate 90 in Bellevue, and leases an additional 17,000 square feet of space at One Bellevue Center downtown on a short-term basis.
The company plans to retain all of its space at Sunset North, but will sublease part of its space at One Twelfth, perhaps three of its nine floors, for an undetermined length of time, according Allen Salmieri, Onyx's director of information services and facilities.
