C&W’s Research Consulting Services Group has released a report indicating that Downtown Stamford’s rate office space vacancy rate is at just 4.9% at midyear. Heavy leasing activity, especially in the high technology and Internet-related services businesses, has caused a shortage in class A space as well, as an upward surge in office rental rates, the firm reports.

“Fairfield County is experiencing the same trend that has been playing out in Manhattan. As the vacancy rate in an extremely tight market continue to tighten, the rental rates expand exponentially,” says Kenneth M. Krasnow, regional managing director of Cushman & Wakefield of Connecticut, Inc.
