Rosewood Eyes Hotel Proposed for Emporium

SAN FRANCISCO - The proposed Emporium development includes a 375,000-sf Bloomingdale's, 500,000 sf of other retail-entertainment space, a nine-screen cinema with seating for 3,000 and a 350-room hotel.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts LLC is reportedly interested in buying the 230-room hotel proposed as part of the $400 million project to be built around a renovated Emporium Building on Market Street.

All told, the proposed development would include a 375,000-sf Bloomingdale’s, 500,000 sf of other retail, restaurant and entertainment, a nine-screen cinema with seating for 3,000 and the hotel. Los Angeles-based Forest City Development Corp. is the project developer.
