Birch and Young want to change the zoning of the half acre from an office designation to a classification allowing 22 multifamily units per acre. A public hearing is scheduled for Sept. 18. City planner Keith MacVean says the planning staff will give the project a green light.
According to tax records, the property to be rezoned is part of a 3.8-acre tract occupied by a nursing home owned by Britthaven Inc. and Pines Living Center/Charlotte. The nursing home tract is valued for taxes at $3.38 million.
