440,000-SF Former Headquarters Being Transformed into Carrier Hotel

SAN ANTONIO-A 440,000-sf former headquarters and distribution site for Solo Serve is being transformed into a carrier hotel that developers say is the first of its kind for the area. The project will come on line by Dec. 1.

Real estate powerhouses Koontz McCombs and Insignia Financial Group Inc. are teaming to bring a new type of hotel to San Antonio.

The pair is developing Cornerway Telecom Place, a 440,000-sf carrier hotel for multiple Internet data centers and telecommunications companies at 1610 Cornerway Blvd. Formerly known as the Solo Serve headquarters and distribution facility, the two-story “duplex” structure will be fully operational by Dec.1.

Officials say the “duplex” nature of the facility makes it the first of its kind in the area. Tenants can isolate support equipment on a separate floor, thereby maximizing leasable equipment and revenue streams. Additionally, the facility’s size and scalable nature facilitates growth from a single location to meet future power needs.
