Herring replaces David D. Fitch who is entering another business field. Fitch was tapped to head St. Joe Commercial when it was formed in 1997.

Herring joined St. Joe in January of this year as vice president and senior development officer. He came to Orlando from Atlanta in 1987 to direct Florida operations for the Landmarks Co. Charlotte-based Faison Associates bought Landmarks in 1993 and kept Herring to run the Florida end. Trammell Crow Co. bought Faison in 1998 and continued with Herring at the helm.

St. Joe Commercial currently is developing 750,000 sf of office at Millenia, a planned 1.1 million-sf mixed-use park at Conroy Road and Interstate 4 in southwest Orlando; and GranPark at SouthPark, a planned one million-sf park in Orlando Central Park. St. Joe is also a 50% owner of CNL Center, a 14-story, 350,000 sf, $35 million Downtown Orlando office tower that opened last year.
