Philips Semiconductors--an affiliate of Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands--is the world's ninth largest semiconductor company with more than 4,000 employees in North America. Philips Semiconductors will continue to produce 0.35 and 0.25 micron CMOS processes on 8-inch wafers at the East Fishkill plant, and will introduce new processes to meet the growing demand for communications devices. Under terms of the acquisition of IBM's Micrus, Philips will continue to supply IBM through 2002.
