The deal marks the third major project in the Texas capital for CarrAmerica, a Washington, D.C.-based real estate firm. CarrAmerica also is constructing a 23-story, 418,000-sf office building at Sixth St. and Guadalupe in downtown Austin as well as a 192,000-sf build-to-suit for Harcourt Inc. at Braker Pointe at the northwest corner of Braker Lane and MoPac Expressway.
Riata Crossing consists of three existing office buildings fully occupied by EDS/NHIC and land to support the development of three additional two-story office buildings, CarrAmerica officials say. "Riata Crossing is an excellent match for D.R. Horton's office space needs," says Jeff Pace, CarrAmerica managing director for Austin. "This technologically-advanced project offers flexible and cost-efficient design as well as an outstanding location and expansion possibilities."Riata Crossing features flexible floor plates, sufficient parking, and convenient access to greater Austin via Highway 183 and Parmer Lane, he adds. CarrAmerica's Austin portfolio includes 19 buildings containing approximately 1.5 million sf of office space.
