In the latest episode, Nextel Communications is asking the Lake County Planning and Zoning commission to table its request for a 180-foot tower while it considers building a shorter pole at the same controversial site. The company is gambling residents will accept the smaller product.

The location is near an auto dealership, off U.S. 441 in Eustis, FL, about 35 miles northwest of Downtown Orlando.

In nearby Volusia County, DeBary city officials have previously rejected a 210-foot tower plan from BellSouth Mobility. AT&T withdrew its application to build a tower on school land in the same city, about 40 miles from Downtown Orlando.
