The Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, L'Auberge Del Mart Resort and Spa in Del Mar, Calif., The Argent Hotel in San Francisco, and the Royal Palms Hotel & Casitas in Phoenix, are a few of the 22 properties worth more than $1 billion in DH&R's portfolio. DH&R is a subsidiary of Lowe Enterprises Inc., and is considered the largest independent hotel management company in the country.

The latest entry in the company's stable of properties is the 640 all-suite Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix. Unlike most of its other hotels, DH&R doesn't have an ownership position in Pointe South, which is part of a new strategy by the company to diversify beyond ownership and development of hotels, DH&R spokeswoman Sally Cooper told GlobeSt.com. Pointe South previously operated under the Hilton brand.

The hotel, owned by MONY/PSM Properties Inc., includes 95,000-sf of meeting space, 38,000-sf Phantom Spa and Fitness complex, 18-hole golf course, 10 tennis courts, on-site stables and four restaurants.

David Bland, MONY director of hotel investments, says DH&R has successfully repositioned hotels from chain affiliations to independent hotels. "The independent philosophy of Destination Hotels & Resorts complements MONY's vision for the resort," says Bland. "In a market abundant with chain-affiliated hotels, DH&R has garnered a reputation for delivering exceptional hotel experiences to its customers, while providing solid returns for their investors."
