Covenant Church will convert a 25,000, eight-screen Cinemark Theatre complex, situated on five acres, into a gathering spot for youth and young adults.

The deal was sealed this week on the property located at 1130 Trinity Mills Rd., about three miles west of the church. The theater had been operational practically up to the time of the sale.Two of the eight screens will be retained in a makeover that also calls for a 500-seat auditorium. “We are trying for this year, but it could be early next year,” Cristina Lewis, a church director, told GlobeSt.com. The redesign is being finalized while construction timeframes have yet to be decided, says Lewis.
