Both projects involve the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA, a hospital facility that is perhaps best known for caring for a long list of celebrities over the years. The first project calls for McCarthy to serve as general contractor of the hospital's new S. Mark Taper Foundation Imaging Center, with a total construction cost of $34 million.

The job includes construction of about 65,000 sf and renovation of an additional 65,000 sf. Completion is scheduled for March 2002.

The second contract, with a $69-million construction cost, involves building an eight-story tower to house a new emergency department and other operations. Construction is to begin in 2002 and take 26 months to complete.

McCarthy is one of the nation's largest general contractors. In addition to its Orange County headquarters, it has offices in San Francisco, Sacramento, Phoenix, Las Vegas and several other cities.
