Shopping Center to Replace Town's Lone, Very Old Grocery Store.

SUBLIMITY, OR-The new structure, which will cost approximately $500,000 to build, will be named Ditter's Town Square as a memorial to the grocery store that opened in 1890.

SUBLIMITY, OR-Sublimity is losing some of its, well, sublimity. The rest stop of a town, east of southeast of Salem on Highway 22, is losing Ditter’s, its only grocery store since 1890. It is being demolished and replaced with a 6,000-sf retail building.

The new structure, which will cost approximately $500,000 to build, will be named Ditter’s Town Square as a memorial. Still, the town is losing its only egg-and-milk stop, and a historic building to boot. The nearest grocery store is now two miles away in Stayton.
