According to local reports, a Mercer Island native who now is a partner with an upscale restaurant chain in Chicago will open the franchises under the partnership name of Icon LLC. The first location will likely be on the Eastside.

Icon will reportedly open a minimum of 30 locations in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii and British Columbia in the next six years. The franchises are normally 4,000-sf, stand-alone buildings with a drive-thru.

Krispy Kreme went public in April at around $29/share. It is currently trading in the mid-$90s.
