Oregon State University, Eastern Oregon University and the Oregon Institute of Technology are combining their respective specialties to win the bid for Oregon's first branch campus. Under the proposal, EOU would provide teaching courses, and OIT would provide its technology and engineering courses. Business, liberal arts and health are some of the OSU specialties that will be included in the proposal.
The University of Oregon plans to submit a proposal on its own. A branch in Bend will be built only if the Legislature approves $7.2 million in funding to cover start-up costs and the first two years of operation. The branch is slated to open in fall 2001. Proposals are due by Dec. 1.
