Mount Airy Developer Breaks into Local Retail Market With Planned $10-Mil, Two-Center Spec Complex

CHARLOTTE-Granite Development's 200,000-sf Callabridge Landing on 48 acres and Callabridge Commons, a smaller center on seven acres, are expected to break ground by year end in northwest Mecklenburg County.

CHARLOTTE-Granite Development of Mount Airy, NC plans to break ground by year end on Callabridge Landing, a $10-million, 200,000-sf shopping center on 48 acres, and Callabridge Commons, a smaller project on seven acres. Both parcels are in northwest Mecklenburg County, a fast-growing residential hub.

Granite paid $5.2 million, or about $94,545 per acre ($2.17 per sf), for the dirt. No leases have been signed. The developer is still negotitating for an anchor. Granite has been planning the project for two years.
