The main building at the Pompano Beach site will total 230,233 sf. Another 18,103-sf area will be attached for an outdoor garden center. The 248,336-sf structure will be Wal-Mart's largest Supercenter in South Florida.
The project's estimated cost is $20 million. An outparcel will offer a self-service gas station with eight pumps. It will employ about 500 people.
Elsewhere in the region, Wal-Mart Supercenters are under construction in Hialeah Gardens, Miami-Dade County and in Boynton Beach, Palm Beach County. The Boynton Beach store is expected to be ready for occupancy by year-end but will not open for business until the first quarter of 2001.
